JIM BOWEN

YEAR OF INDUCTION: 2006



Jim helped form one of the most dynamic scoring lines in New Jersey history for the legendary 1977 unbeaten team. Bowen was also part of the 1975 Group IV co-champions, when he earned third-team All-County as a sophomore. By the time he was finished, Bowen was All-County three years, All-Central Jersey two years and All-State his senior year. He was also named to the Newark Star-Ledger’s All-Decade team. In baseball, Bowen was All-County for three years and All-State as a senior, when the Spartans won the Group IV title.

Then it was on to Princeton, where Bowen was a four-year All-Ivy League selection, a three-year regional All-American and a three-time All-New Jersey College team selection. He graduated from Princeton third on the list for career goals and points. Bowen was a member of the U.S Under-19 and Under-20 National teams, and was the first pick of the New Jersey Rockets in the third round of the Major Indoor Soccer League draft. He was also a member of the Olympic Developmental team, and won bronze and gold medals in 1979 and 1981 while playing for the East squad in the U.S. Olympic Sports Festival. Jim was named to the Sports Festival’s All-Tournament team in ’81.
