DOMINIC CUNIGLIO

CLASS OF '93

YEAR OF INDUCTION: 2008

Although Cuniglio actually played five sports during high school, he made his name in football, wrestling and track. During his senior year, he was captain of the football and wrestling teams. He was a first-team All-Colonial Valley Conference and All-Mercer County selection in wrestling and track and second team All-CVC in football. It was in wrestling where he truly dominated, finishing fifth in the state to become the only state place-winner in school history. He was named to the The Trenton Times All-Decade team, was a Mercer County Tournament Champion, a District 25 champ and a two-time qualifier in Region 7. Dominic won the Walt Wilkinson Award (outstanding football player), the Spartan of the Year award and the football and wrestling MVPs.

As a member of Monmouth University’s first football team, Cuniglio became a four-year starter at offensive tackle where he was first-team All-ECAC in 1995, first-team All Northeast Conference in 1996, and a two-time All-American in 1995 and 1996. He was a member of Monmouth’s Northeast Conference champion in 1997. He is currently a teacher and assistant football coach at Middletown South High School.
