The driving force behind the 1966 undefeated football team, Hohman was third-team All-State and
first-team All-County quarterback that season. He was also the Mercer County Football Player of
the Year and, showing what a strong two-way player he was, Hohman made the All-Delaware Valley team
as a safety.
After giving some other athletes a chance in the winter, Hohman returned in the spring of his
senior year to earn first-team All-State and All-County honors in baseball. He was an All-Big 10
defensive back for the University of Minnesota, and still holds the Big 10 and Minnesota record for
longest interception return for a touchdown (99 yards vs. Nebraska). The Minneapolis resident also
holds the record for most interceptions returned for touchdowns at Minnesota. In baseball he earned
All-Big 10 honors before playing minor league baseball in the Detroit Tigers organization.
