Wayne Huston won a combined seven varsity letters at Steinert in soccer and baseball. As a Spartan,
he received All-State recognition and was a member of championship teams.His post-high school career
earned him eight letters in two sports at Trenton State College. He achieved All-American status
in soccer and led the Lions to NAIA national championships in 1964 and 1965. He was named MVP
of the national championship in Kansas City for scoring eight goals in two games in 1965. He holds
career records for scoring 32 goals in a season and 72 in a career.
He signed a pro football contract with the Eagles’ “taxi squad” in 1966 and was tapped to
be the kicker for team based in Wilmington, DE. He also served as Steinert’s Athletic Director
from 1976 – 1981.
