YEAR OF INDUCTION: 2009



The 1973 Steinert soccer team went undefeated en route to the Group IV championship because it scored lots of goals and gave up very few. Jim McKeown played a major part in both facets. McKeown was a three-year varsity performer, playing on the 1971 and ’73 Group IV champions. As a senior he had 10 goals and 10 assists, earned first-team All-County and All-Area, third-team All-Group IV and was the Hamilton PAL’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

That summer he was starting fullback for the U-19 National team, then went on to a stellar career at Rider College. A four-year starter at sweeper, Sem was named College Athlete of the Year, first-team All-East Coast Conference and Regional All American as a senior. McKeown became the 13th player selected in the North American Soccer League’s 1978 draft, and played one year for the Tulsa Roughnecks and one for the Philadelphia Fury. He currently enjoys a successful sales, marketing and executive management career, and is Vice President of Sales with a construction equipment manufacturer.
