Rasimowicz played soccer for Steinert from 1968-70 and was a three-time All-County selection. He was
also team captain and made All-State as a senior, when he scored a school and county-record 30 goals
in leading the Spartans to an 18-0-2 record and the 1969 Group IV championship (Fink later broke the
mark with 34 and Donigan holds the current record at 36). “The guy was a pure goal scorer, had a
great shot and was just a very dangerous attacking player. People marveled at what he did around
the goal.”
Aside from soccer, Rasimowicz had other talents as well. He was second-team All-County in baseball
and honorable mention in basketball during his senior year. He also won the MVP of the Christmas
Tournament that year despite considering basketball his weakest sport. “But,” he said, “It’s the
game I played for the coach I remember and respected the most, Jake Tarr. . . someone very special
to play for. I knew I wanted to play for the Green and White by the time I was 10-years-old,”
said Rasimowicz. “While most 10-year-olds were riding bikes and playing hide-and-seek, I never
missed a single football, basketball, soccer or baseball game or practice at Steinert.
Rasimowicz also played shortstop for Hamilton Post 31 in the summer.
